Rainy days

The weather went suddenly worse and now it’s rainy and cold again. I’m a bit sad for it, especially because I’d just like to spend these dark days under my blanket waiting for any sunshine…

Anyway, we had the Field trip again last weekend and it was a blast. We had a nice evening, too, and we didn’t have to go outside since some elite university from Soul had reserved the bornfire before us. Although I think that everyone was just happy to avoid the freezing mountain night. We also went to Hyundai Heavy Industries where they are using some Finnish software in the machinery (cool, isn’t it?) and after that straight to Hyundai Motors to check out the newest Hyundai cuties.

Mom, dad: I picked my summer car…

…and bought some vehicles for souvenirs, too:

(Don’t be mad at me, but I asked Hyundai to send the bill to you…) ^_^

Strawberries

The coolest thing in Korea right now is the invasion of cheap and huge strawberries! I know, cherry blossoms are blooming and so, but they are nothing compared to more culinaristic pleasures! I’ve been eating kilos of those supersweet berries during last weeks and finally I had to make a bag to carry them home from the market:

Nevermind what YOU do.
I strawberry NY!

Field Trip II

Hey, guess where most of us are coming again? Yes, that’s right, we’re going to do the bus trip to Pohang and Ulsan again! And that’s going to be even more crazy, fun and wild since there is spring in the air and this time we have some glue how to prepare ourselves.

I actually started to train my liver to be in a good shape yesterday, when several brutal individuals (who called themselves as “friends”) dragged me to one of those “hof & soju” restaurants with them. Well, soju was good (as always, especially mixed with kiwi and mango juices) and we stayed up pretty late. I think I was still happily tipsy, or something, today at school and definitely proud of myself not to have any signs of hangover yet. But as you know, weekend is long and I gonna shop few bottles of red wine for tomorrow to warm the atmosphere cold nights up in the mountains. Cheers!

Tales from the roads in China

I managed to save some of the pictures from China which I accidentally removed right after arriving into Thailand!

matkalaiset.jpg
It’s Yi Ching and me – fearless travellers ready to explore the unexplored China. Honestly, that one is from Yi Ching’s home.

I and a Korean girl, Bing and some supercute Chinese elementary school students in Yi Chin’s home town. I was probaply the first westener ever visiting the town, so kids started to call me a “barbie girl” because of my blond hair. Bing was way more popular among them, though, ‘cos they were sure she is a Korean popstar or something :)

Yi Ching’s parents were lovely! They kindly took us to the bus terminal when we left.

Back at premises

Damn it, It’s over now.

I arrived back in Daegu last Sunday. After that I’ve been struggling with visa affairs and some monetary difficulties (yes, I spent my last reserves and now I’m biting my nails for lunch). Getting back into Korea was kind of adventure as well.

First of all, my journey from Koh Phangan started right after February’s Fullmoon party when I headed to Krabi city (which really is an inland city, not an island as I had thought). Then I stayed for two or three days in Krabi and tried to organize a flight back to Korea as well as find out how to get a new visa to Korea since my previous one had already expired. I didn’t have much time to do anything else than take care of my affairs, but at least I went to snorkling, too, and encouraged myself to try out Thai food at a local day market, which was definitely one of the best meals I’ve had for a long time! (Gotta upload some pictures here)

I’m pretty sorry for all my empty promises to update my blog earlier. But you know, lying on those pearl white beaches, swimming and diving in a crystal clear sea and partying from sunset to sunrise kept me too busy all the time!

The worst tourist attraction in Bangkok – but you still gotta see it and get a photo like this.

And example how to take some rest after first dancing your ass off.

Looks nice in pictures, for sure, but it was even better irl ;)

The islands near to Krabi town were quite OK, too!

Accidentally in Kuala Lumpur. Just me and that nice reflexion, yeah.

That’s all this time, kids. Let’s see if I’m going to have a visa to stay in Korea longer than just a couple of days. Otherwise this blog is going to get boring soon, hah.

New flipflops

Happily back in Bangkok! Actually I arrived here already on Monday night, but there is other things to do than just update my blog! :) Still, I’m alive and kicking.

In two weeks Laos started to get old. So, the 2-week visa you can get at the border was enough for me! I promise, I’ll add some pretty nice pics here later and write a bit what actually saw there. All in all, the counrty was the most beautiful place I’ve ever been, but a bit expensive and after the first week it started to rain there..

Greetings from Laos

Finally, after six days of being ill and travelling through Laos I found a pretty nice small village I’m going to settle down for a while. On the way here I met a guy who is also going to do some rock climbing and tubing – and because all the guest houses except one bungalow-style place – seemed to be full – we are now sharing one shitty room together for ~1,5 euros a night. It’s not that bad but on the other hand we have all the luxuriaites including a raw of rat holes.

Now I’d really like to get some pics from my camera to upload here. It’s just sooo beautiful everywhere here and I got few funny shots I want to share, too. (:

Here’s some pics. I paired up with a Canadian guy who was in Vang Vien to do some rock climbing. Later on, we shared a cozy and well-kept bungalow like this:

lao-rathole.jpg lao-foodstorage.jpg
yes, it is a rat hole on the left side and on right there’s the way we protected our snacks from super-hungry rodents.

lao-brokenlock.jpg
Piece by piece our bungalow was shattering into pieces. The last straw was the lock which conked out just when we were tried to open the door! That’s how we remowed the whole thing.

Luckily, a better place was just around a corner – as you can see!

Pai – Laos

Jep. Shit happens sometimes, and this time my trip to Myanmar ended almost before it begun. For some reason we picked up a wrong bus with Chris, and unfortunately our choice was going totally wrong direction. I was actually just trying to cop some z’s on my seat when Chris woke me up and told that we must get off in the middle of nowhere. So there we were, about 40 km from Pai and no idea how to get to Chiang Mai (which was our destination for the morning).

After a while we tried to hitch hike back and some village tribe women, who were going to Pai to sell some handicrafts, gave us a ride. It wasn’t that bad as it sounds. The scenery on the way was pretty nice and the sun was rising and warming us. The village people couldn’t speak any English but they were smiling at us all the time (and finally they tried to sell some handbags when we were back in Pai :)

It was already 10 AM and I really wasn’t in a mood for spending another few hours in a hot and humid bus to Chiang Mai. Therefore I decided that It’s better to head to Laos instead of Myanmar and marched to Aya service that sells ready-made trips to Thailand-Laos border. I booked my ticked for this evening, so I’ll be in Laos tomorrow morning…

Niin, mitas sita tulikaan tehtya…

Huomisaamun kello kahdeksan heratys vie kaiken hehkun viimeiselta perjantai-illalta ikina Paissa. Plussaa on toki se, etta talla jarjestelylla voin vehdata viikon dormitorylla tekematta mitaan, silla kuulin juuri, etta alkuviikko koulusta on vapaata. Sehan se rules, niin etta jaa aikaa juoda Singha-olutta (Zero-kokikseen sekoitettuna) ja vetaa vahan vasenta lonkkaa oikean peraan. Voe pojjaat.

Tahan mennessa tama urhea paioneeri on pyorinyt vaikka missa:

1. Chinese Village, second Sunday @ Pai

I met that thai girl called May and she took me with her architect friends from Bangkok to Chinese village near Pai. Actually the village is just a guest house (or more likely a bungalow resort) only about 15 minutes from Pai centrum, but the scenery in the place is so beautiful and all the buildings made of clay in Chinese style that it’s definitely a place worth seeing. Sadly, May planned to leave Pai just next day so for her it was a farewell trip around the area.

2. Elephant riding, Tuesday

There’s few elephant farms in Pai. Since Thais don’t use elephants anymore in constructions, these animals carry tourists like me – and my summer boy (behind me) – all around the jungle. The ride took about two hours and was just awesome!

3. Raw bananas, never mind which day it was :)

Where are the fruits, there is Hanna. Yep, after picking some persimons few months before I was graving for fresh things again. So, here we go:

The farmer just stood there on a field and was too slow to catch me afterwards. Right now I’m just waiting when the Thai police will be behind our dorm’s front door asking for those bananas which were way too raw to be eaten. Though, I didn’t dare to steal than just one of them – and later I heard that one of Adam’s friends had given it to an elephant. Cute.
